{"id":1275,"date":"2020-04-10T18:27:57","date_gmt":"2020-04-10T18:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/landrument.com\/?page_id=1275"},"modified":"2020-04-10T18:27:59","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T18:27:59","slug":"telehealth","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/landrument.com\/telehealth\/","title":{"rendered":"Telehealth"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In light of the pandemic, and the need to slow the spread of\nCOVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus), we have been performing many office visits via Telemedicine.\nThis type of visit allows you and your loved ones to stay #SafeAtHome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are, however, some limitations to obtaining ENT care\nvia videoconferencing. The most apparent being the inability to fully examine\nthe ear canal and ear drum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this reason, we took the time to research various\noptions to ensure you are receiving the best possible care even when we can\u2019t\nsee you in the office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below you will find various links to Amazon. Each link will\ntake you to a different digital otoscope (device used to look inside the ear)\nthat you may purchase prior to your scheduled appointment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Please keep in mind the\npurchase of a digital otoscope is in <strong>no way a requirement<\/strong> for a Telemedicine\nvisit with any of our providers.<\/em> This\nis merely an option you may utilize if you want us to be able to see exactly\nwhat is happening inside your ear canal without you having to be physically\npresent in the office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose to purchase a digital otoscope, we will ask\nyou to either take a picture (or record a video) of the inside of your ear\nprior to your appointment. On the day of your appointment we will contact you\nto gather basic health information and will give you further instructions on\nhow to send the picture or video to us at that time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose to purchase a digital otoscope, please keep\nthe following tips in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Make sure the otoscope comes with <strong>ear speculums<\/strong> (also\nreferred to as an <strong>ear specula<\/strong>). The speculum should be <strong>the only thing<\/strong>\nyou insert into your ear.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Some otoscopes will also come with\npicks or hooks for the purpose of removing ear wax. It is our suggestion, that\nyou <strong>THROW THESE AWAY<\/strong>. These devices can easily fall into your ear canal\nand\/or cause damage to your ear canal and ear drum. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Make sure you buy an otoscope that\nwill connect or communicate with whatever platform you choose to use (ie.\nphone, tablet, computer, etc.). Also, keep in mind that some otoscopes will not\ncommunicate with iPhone.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Lastly, each manufacturer will tell\nyou the name of the app you need to download in order to view the otoscope\nimage.
